The Energy Auditor Training Grant Program provides $40 million in competitive funding to states with the purpose of equipping individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to perform energy audits in both commercial and residential buildings. The program aims to create a robust clean energy workforce, help customers save on energy bills, and reduce pollution resulting from building energy use.

In the short term, the program focuses on offering comprehensive training, standardizing education, promoting diversity and inclusion in the workforce, and connecting trainees to promising career opportunities. In the long term, the vision is to sustain clean energy auditing efforts by fostering partnerships among states, agencies, organizations, and the Department of Energy (DOE). The program’s efforts also prioritize evolving and improving job quality, diversity, and the overall value of the energy workforce.

Implemented by the Office of State and Community Energy Programs (SCEP) at the DOE, this program collaborates with state and local organizations to accelerate the deployment of clean energy technologies, create jobs, reduce energy costs, and minimize pollution. The commitment to creating equitable access to these opportunities, including support for tribes, will help drive a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.
